The Happenings

Merry Christmas all! Unfortunately the weather hampered our xmas gathering. So I thought I put together a post. And since Matt has been working on that OTHER blog I got to take the reins. So without further a due and in no discernible order, here's my post:

First, the town of Winnebago had a little festivities that involved dereck and an elf suit, nuff said.

Here's one of the boys from thanksgiving, hanging out with lil' Colin.

Then we made sure to baptize the little fellow.

And one more for the heck of it.

Alright, that's all I got. Happy holidays!

Farmhouse Pictures 7

Greetings all,
Sorry to those on auto-email that just got a bunch of emails. I wanted to share a bunch of pictures that Mitch and I took over the weekend as we went into the old farmhouse. For the most part, the inside seems pretty stable, but has some squirrels making nests out of old clothes and magazines that line the floor. It has been suggested that this property poses an "attractive nuisance" liability, and would be in Grandma's best interests to tear down the house. This would aide in 1) cleaning up the property and 2) discourage the vandals that make their way through the farm from time to time. My opinion on that is if it doesn't look like an abandoned farm site it won't be treated as such.

At any rate, please peruse the various pictures in the posts. Ideally we can clean out whatever might have value to the family and look into dis-assembly in the near future. I realize winter is upon us (it's sure cold in the Twin Cities today) so we might have to wait until Spring to do much, but let's get thinking along these lines.

See you all soon,
Matt

Weekend before last

The weekend of 10/5 was a bit of long one. I made it home on Thursday to wish by big bro a happy 27th birthday with a bag of beef jerky from the butcher shop in Kimball. Here I got to meet my new nephew

Then I got to hold my two favorite peoples.

Hopefully, Colin will have as much intuition and foresight as his big sister. As was the case when little Bailey (and I) felt of little trepidation before a hayride, courtesy of Shelby.

For the record:

Bailey
Hey!

Shelby
What?

Bailey
Umm, sometimes I'm scared when you do this.
(beat)
Does your dad yell at you when you do this?

Shelby
No.

Bailey
Oh, he knows you do this.

*End Transcript*

She ended up having a lot of fun on the ride and hanging with Shelby most of the weekend.

On Sunday I headed for home, stopping with Dave, Shelby and Grandma to the twins' birthday party at Stacie's. The Alfson choir really needs to get together to practice.

Twins are hard to sing for. Anyway, it was a good weekend.

The Adventures of Mitch at Lifelight '08

So, this news is over a month old, but I just got signed up to this newfangled blogger thingy. Kids these days with their blogging and texting and Zubaz pants.

Anyway, over Labor Day weekend there was a little shindig called Lifelight in Sioux Falls. I attended along with some of my cronies. Here are pics for those interested or just plain bored. Warning: The photography is sub par. Deal with it.

Remedy Drive

Family Force 5
They gave two concerts over the weekend. Definitely the most energetic performers at the festival. And they had fire.

Switchfoot
Did I mention that the festival is free? That's right, a free Switchfoot concert.

Michael W. Smith

Number in attendance that night to see Michael W. Smith: approx. 140,000.
Population of Sioux Falls, the largest city in South Dakota: approx. 151,000.

And last, but not least, there was...

Casting Crowns

More of Casting Crowns

Oh, did I mention we were backstage?

Yeah, we were backstage. I know a guy.

Those are just a sample. We saw far too many bands to mention here. I'm already looking forward to next year.

It's time to pay the price!
