Tub Race successful despite setback

It has been 8 years since Winnebago, MN had their yearly bathtub race. For those not familiar, a bathtub race consists of four people pushing a modified three wheeled vehicle, fixed with a bathtub for the driver and steering column. The four man/woman teams careen through a street of cones, swerving in a figure eight pattern while onlookers toss water balloons, contributing to water filled tub.

All competitors are from local businesses, all vying for glorious prizes:

Our firing squad which consists of Derek, Baily and friends were there to make sure the teams had a fair challenge.

Baily was our resident munitions handler:

She also disposed of faulty ammo accordingly:

She proved to an expert marksmen:

It didn't end there. As the Precision Concrete team took flight, they burrowed down the streets at remarkable pace. The weight of vehicle and collective onslaught of the crowds' water balloons took its toll on the team. The result:

There was one injury; a wheelchair-bound onlooker who was promptly taken care of by emergency service personal on hand for the event.

Baily was saddened over the impedment of all the fun. Also, the lack of financing for balloons that got cut off due to her practice sessions which consisted of tossing them at the gutter.

Aunt Sue, a coordinator of the event, was upset along with the rest of the crowd.

But the spirit of the crowd wouldn't be deterred. Coordinators pushed back the crowd to the sidewalk and continued with the races.

Which eventually resulted in 1st place for team MET (Minnesota Electric Technology)!

Even with all her work and her company's win Sue couldn't stop the bereavement of the crowd (or her niece, Shelby, upfront).

It was a fun time that I hope gets repeated next year despite the accident.
